Hirschman wins the ROC 75 along with Hoddick, Rudolph, Johnson and Knutsen!

It was another beautiful day and night at Lancaster Raceway Park as the RoC Modified Tour rolled in for a 75 lap race. It was a full night of racing with Late Models, SST Sportsman, Super Stocks and Street Stocks joining the Mods. It was also Autograph Night and everybody was able to go on the track and get cards and other goodies. Some standouts were Wayne Bernhards trademark bowling pins, Billy Burds bike giveaways and Russell Knutsens hair care products and coloring pages.

The Street Stocks had the first feature of the night. No heat races were run because of the full schedule of events. Ed Nowak started on the pole with 28 cars behind him. Russell Knutsen also started near the front and was in the lead by lap 5. Jim Bryant was moving up the field and on lap 9, he took the third position and by lap 12 he was up to second. Now he set his sights on Knutsen. Everything changed on lap 16 when Tim Garlock spun in turn 1 and brought out the caution. The field was bunched up and Andy Jankowiak found himself battling for second which he got from Bryant. Meanwhile, Russell Knutsen was still out front and held off Jankowiak for his first win of the year. Thanks again Russ...

The Super Stocks hit the track next. 10 cars started the race with Jason Gwin starting on the pole. Dave Johnson got the lead early from Gwin and led to rest of the race. Batista moved up to second and Roesch finished third.

19 cars started the SST Sportsman race with Tom MacLeod on the pole. MacLeod held onto the top spot and on lap 10, Craig Dolphin spun in turn 4 to bring out the caution. Erick Rudolph came up from the field and moved into second. Rudolph got around MacLeod and went on to win with MacLeod, Cappelli, Gian and Weber rounding out the top 5.

The second last race of the night was that of the Late Models. Downtown Jeff Brown started on the pole in a 12 car field. Jeff Brown led all but 5 laps as he and Hoddick were battling side by side for the lead for many laps. Hoddick got around Brown with 5 to go and went on to win. Brown, Skora, Nurmi, and Alix rounded out the top 5.

The mighty roc mods were the final race of the night. Bill Hebing started on the pole after drawing the #1 spot in the redraw. Hebing retained the lead early on and Holmes moved up to second. The caution flag flew on lap 5 after Beers and Scherer got together. On the restart, Larry Jackson blew a tire and Pete Brittain got stuck together and it took quite some time to get them apart. Bobby Holmes got the lead on the restart from Hebing. After the pitting sequence, Bobby Holmes stayed out and along with Hebing and Matt Hirschman. Hirschman got the lead on lap 38. He was able to hold off a strong charge from Jan Leaty in the closing laps and got his first Lancaster win. Leaty, McGrath, Rudolph, and Fidanza rounded out the top 5.

Next weekend is Robosaurus and we will be going to Merrittville Speedway to see some DIRT Modifieds. Thanks...
